Economic and monetary union requires a broad range of statistics to measure developments within the euro area and for the common monetary policy. The core indicators, for this purpose, are the principal European economic indicators (PEEIs) established in 2002. A review in 2008 highlighted the lack of statistics on the housing market and as a consequence three housing related indicators were added to the list of PEEIs, including one on building permits. Since 2005 Eurostat has collected information from countries on the sources and methods they use to compile the PEEIs (Principal European Economic Indicators) in STS and synthesises into a report on one PEEI every year ('PEEI in focus'). This publication first provides an insight into the recently released 2010 PEEI in focus report on the services producer price index (SPPIs), then information on how to access all the PEEI in focus reports produced since 2005. European Business - Facts and figures - Data 1995-2004.
This is Eurostat's main reference publication on European Business. It gives a comprehensive picture of the structure, development and characteristics of European business and its different activities: from energy and the extractive industries to communications, information services and media. It presents the latest available statistics from a wide selection of statistical sources describing for each activity: production and employment; country specialisation and regional distribution; productivity and profitability; the importance of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs); work-force characteristics; external trade etc. The accompanying CD-ROM presents the paper publication in an easily accessible electronic format, including all the data, graphs and tables in Excel-format. It also contains more complete, detailed datasets on which the publication is based, a means of easily accessing the most up-to-date live data, as well as a large amount of background information. Key figures on European Business - with a special feature section on SMEs - Data 1995-2005.
This publication summarises the main features of European business and its different activities in a concise and simple manner. It includes a special feature section on SMEs, which presents an analysis of the different characteristics of micro, small, medium and large enterprises. The publication is also intended to function as a showcase for and introduction to the data available in this field. The focus is on structural business statistics: both the more traditional business statistics which are disseminated regularly, but also specific information compiled on a multi-yearly basis and the latest results from development projects on topics of key political interest.

Industrial import prices increase less than domestic output prices in the euro area.

Industrial import price indices are one of the Principal European Economic Indicator (PEEI) compiled in the framework of short-term business statistics (STS). The publication contains an analysis of import price developments by main industrial grouping (MIG) and by the origin of imports (intra/extra euro zone). The publication also makes a detailed comparison of the development of import prices with domestic producer prices.
