Regulation (EU) 70/2012 provides a legal base for the collection of a wide range of data on road freight transport. This Reference Manual aims to provide detailed guidance for Member States and Candidate countries engaged in the implementation of this Regulation with legal requirements. This guidance falls into three parts: Part A: recommendations for sample surveys of the transport of goods by road; Part B: recommendations for the variables, definitions and explanatory notes; Part C: rules for transmission of data to Eurostat, data validations carried out by Eurostat and rules for data dissemination by Eurostat. It presents the EU’s main indicators for energy, transport and environment that support the design and monitoring of EU policies. The publication provides data for the European Union and its Member States, while some indicators include also data for the EFTA countries and candidate countries and potential candidates to the EU. La Comisión Europea ha publicado hoy la edición de 2016 del «Cuadro de indicadores de transporte de la UE», que compara los resultados de los Estados miembros en treinta categorías que abarcan todos los aspectos del transporte. El objetivo del cuadro de indicadores es ayudar a los Estados miembros a determinar ámbitos prioritarios de inversión e intervención.  El cuadro pone de manifiesto que la UE está reforzando el mercado interior del transporte y promueve la transición hacia una movilidad de bajas emisiones, dos de las prioridades de la Comisión Juncker. Los Países Bajos encabezan el cuadro de indicadores por tercer año consecutivo con puntuaciones altas en quince categorías, seguidos de Suecia, Alemania y Austria. Aunque con distintos puntos fuertes, todos esos Estados miembros presentan características comunes: un marco sólido para las inversiones, buenos resultados en materia de seguridad del transporte y un excelente historial de aplicación de la normativa de la UE. Methodologies used in surveys of road freight transport in Member States, EFTA and Candidate Countries - 2014 edition

The present document describes the methods used by Member States, candidate and EFTA countries in their surveys on road freight transport statistics. Part I describes national methodologies for data collection. This information is based on questionnaires completed by the reporting countries. Data in these questionnaires refer to the first quarter of 2014. Part II includes summary tables, with the basic information on sampling, response rate, register quality and precision of results of the surveys. Data on the registers used to draw the sample and the sampling methodology are relevant for the surveys conducted in the first quarter of 2014, while the main characteristics given for each country refer to the years 2012 and 2013, according to data availability. ‘Methodologies used in surveys of road freight transport in Member States, EFTA and Candidate Countries' is published in English only. La Comisión Europea ha publicado hoy por primera vez un cuadro de indicadores sobre el transporte en la UE. En él se compara el comportamiento de cada Estado miembro en 22 categorías relacionadas con el transporte y se destacan los cinco mejores y los cinco peores en la mayoría de estas categorías. Los Países Bajos y Alemania ocupan los primeros puestos de este cuadro de indicadores, con puntuaciones elevadas en once categorías, seguidos de Suecia, el Reino Unido y Dinamarca.
El objetivo de este primer cuadro de indicadores de transporte de la UE es ofrecer una imagen puntual de la diversidad de comportamiento de los Estados miembros en asuntos de transporte a través de Europa, y ayudar a los Estados miembros a detectar las carencias y a definir prioridades para la inversión y las políticas. El cuadro reúne datos de diversas fuentes (por ejemplo, Eurostat, la Agencia Europea de Medio Ambiente, el Banco Mundial y la OCDE). La intención de la Comisión es perfeccionar los indicadores en los próximos años, en el marco de un diálogo con los Estados miembros, la industria y otras partes interesadas, así como realizar un seguimiento de los avances de los Estados miembros a lo largo del tiempo.
