CoverKey figures on Europe 2018 — Statistics illustrated — 2018 edition

This new edition of Key figures on Europe — Statistics illustrated marks something of a new departure from previous editions. With more visualisation, innovative data presentation formats and shorter texts, we aim to better respond to the needs of our users while also reaching a wider and more diverse audience. It is available in English, French and German.

This publication provides you with a selection of interesting key statistics on the European Union (EU), its Member States as well as the countries of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Drawing from the rich collection of data available at Eurostat, we aim to provide insight into the current situation and recent developments across the EU with regard to people and society, the economy and business, and the environment and natural resources.

This publication may be viewed as an introduction to EU statistics and provides a starting point for those who wish to explore the wide range of data that is freely available on Eurostat’s website at https:/ec.europa.eu/eurostat and presented in a large number of online articles in Statistics Explained. CoverEnergy balance sheets — 2016 data — 2018 edition

The current publication presents the simplified energy balance sheets for 2016 and time series of key elements of energy balances for the years 1990, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2014 , 2015 and 2016. Energy data are available for all Member States of the European Union as well as Iceland, Norway, Montenegro, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Turkey, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo (UNSCR 1244/99), Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia. The energy balances have been constructed according to Eurostat’s methodology on the basis of the energy content of each source and form of energy. The energy balances are expressed in thousands of tonnes of oil equivalent (ktoe). [+]

Energy is essential for our day-to-day life. Turning on our computers or starting our cars are actions that we take for granted, yet they represent the final stage of a complex process, from extraction to final consumption. Statistics can help to make the complex process of energy more understandable. This is the aim of the digital publication Shedding light on energy in the EU – A guided tour of energy statistics. This new type of publication aims to answer questions on energy most frequently asked by citizens in an original way. Answers are provided through short texts, dynamic infographics, maps, videos, graphs, photos etc. This digital publication provides the statistical background which helps to better understand the challenges faced by the Energy Union. Both those not so familiar with the energy sector and experts in the domain should find something of interest. [+]

CoverEnergy, transport and environment indicators — 2017 edition

The multi-thematic statistical book Energy, transport and environment indicators comprises a broad set of data collected by Eurostat. It presents the EU’s main indicators for energy, transport and environment that support the design and monitoring of EU policies. The publication provides data for the European Union and its Member States, while some indicators include also data for the EFTA countries and candidate countries and potential candidates to the EU.

The 2017 edition is complemented by the 'Highlights per Member State', a concise presentation of EU-28 and country data for some indicators from each of the three areas. The 'Highlights' provide a representative sample from the content of the statistical book. [+]

CoverCompilers guide on European statistics on natural gas and electricity prices

This Compilers Guide provides conceptual issues and practical information and guidance for reporting authorities to compile and report natural gas and electricity price statistics to Eurostat based on the Regulation (EU) 2016/1952. The compilers guide includes examples of 5 reporting authorities that illustrate the practical application of this regulation , in particular the reporting of taxes, fees, levies and charges and network costs.
